Just a little blog to try and communicate what we are accomplishing here, and also what we are trying to accomplish. Not much, just a self-sustained life full of peace and love and all that other "hippy" nonsense. What we are looking for really, is just a better Happier world for our kids. Don't you want the same? We've been at this for a few months, so some of this will be catch-up, don't get bored or bitchy, just try and keep up. Peace and Love Y'all

Turkeys, Chickens, and Birds Oh my....

So it is Easter......Happy Eater Everyone who reads this. We had planned an uneventful day today, just hanging out with the kids. Then our friends Dave and Rachel showed up to our house with plans to go to someone elses house to pick up some stuff from this gentleman, who's wife had just passed due to brain cancer. We knew he had stuff he wanted to get rid of and he wanted to sell off his wife's birds because there were just too many of them. So he told us to have our pick and give him an offer. So I came home with 3 year old Burbon Red Turkeys, 2 toms and 1 hen for $20.00. What a deal. So Jon and I have spent the last couple of hours in the rain roping off the top of our chicken/ goat pen so the turkeys cant fly away. It is so neat just to sit back and watch them thumping and cackling. They are so big. I will post pics when they dry up. They look shaggy right now because they are all wet. We also ordered chickens from the Cackle Hatchery, We ordered the Hatchery Surprise Just to see what we would get, So know we have 35 Baby chickens of all kinds and 2 baby turkeys. I will post all of the pics of them tomorrow as well. Well off to check on the birds.

So before we moved to the mountains we decided that we needed bigger dogs to protect the kids (just in case). We had a good idea of what the wildlife around us was going to be and we wanted to make sure that the kids were being watched when we weren't always paying attention. So we got 2 Presa Canario puppies. These have been the most amazing dogs we have ever had and we have had an array of dogs since we got married. I just wanted to share my beautiful dogs with you all. They have such personality and can be stubborn as mules when they want but they are very smart and very loyal animals. It is scary sometimes that they see things running through the woods that we never see, but that is what we got them for. They have always been gentle with all of our children, probably because the see them as part of their pack. I will be breeding our male hopefully sometime soon. If you ever get a chance to have a big dog I will definately recommend this breed for families. Khaos is the boy, he is red and he weighs about 130lbs at a year old. Kharma is brindle and weighs about 90 lbs at a year old.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.
